As seen in this newspaper entry, the Omnibus Bill was fully passed in all sections that it had included. The passing of this Bill caused outrage not only from Canadian citizens but also within the Canadian government itself. The Conservative party, which at the time held the opposition, walked out of the meeting after it was announced that the Omnibus Bill had officially been voted to pass. The Conservatives did not support this Bill and thought it was disrespectful to even discuss it in Parliament. This shows how the traditional way of thinking for Canadian citizens and government members had society locked into a certain way of living, this was able to begin to unravel once the Omnibus Bill passed as it was the first of its kind. Topics like sexual orientation and abortion rights were topics that never got talked about within Parliament and many viewed talking about them as disturbing.
