This short entry in “The Edmonton Journal” highlights how the Omnibus Bill of 1968-1969 is set in place to amend the Canadian Criminal Code in Canada. This Bill has caused quite an uproar across Canadian citizens as many have felt it was brutal and immoral to be introduced. The public was not impressed with the collectivization of such broad topics put into one bill, almost forcing parliament to either accept LGBTQ+ rights and abortion rights or go against other issues that need to be dealt with. Many Canadians felt that Pierre Trudeau leaving these different issues lumped together instead of making separate Bills would have been the smarter option regardless of if the citizen supported or was against the more controversial topics involved in this Bill. This short newspaper article touches on very controversial opinions that were held in 1968-1969 regarding the Omnibus Bill by Canadian citizens during this time period.
