This photo shows the resilient and empowerment of indigenous people. Indigenous people have had to fight for their rights multiple times throughout history and have done so by coming together to fight. During the Oka crisis we saw indigenous people from around Montreal, British Columbia and The United States came together to fight for their peoples’ rights. This photo embodies the statement of there is strength behind numbers, we see how people coming together to fight led to the indigenous people of Kanehsatake winning the fight for their land.  In order to fight for their land, they had to show the government that they were not afraid to stand together to fight for what was right. Indigenous people have shown time and time again how resilient they are when they come together to fight. This photo is just one of many times in history that we saw indigenous people show up for each other to fight for their rights.
