This picture shows a middle-aged man fighting with the armed forces during the Oka crisis of 1990. This photo shows the escalation of the fight between indigenous people and the Canadian armed forces. The indigenous man is fighting to try and protect his land by using the only method that he may know how to in this instance. The escalation is when we saw a police officer get shot during the fight with the surute du Quebec. That initial fight led to the Canadian armed forces being brought in. This photo is just one example that will be presented throughout this digital exhibit to show the fight for indigenous rights. In relation to artifact 1 this photo shows an escalation between indigenous people and the police officers. In the first photo we saw the beginning of the fight and whereas in this photo we see the fight happening. In this exhibit we will see different viewpoints on how indigenous people fought for their rights.
