Diversity in an enlistment poster.
This enlistment poster here lists many different branches and occupations of the military that may have appealed to many different desires among Canadians or simply suit their needs as well. There is a surprising amount of inclusion here especially during this time with the mention of “coloured” people and those belonging to other nationalities, even to those who did not speak English. More broadly, this poster highlights the extensive need for more recruits and advertising the military with certain simplistic wording like “if you like going fast”, almost as if the military was something pertaining to hobbies would be misleading to the horrors that those men who would enlist would inevitably experience. It does also display the extent of the many positions a Canadian could occupy in the military, displaying the vast scale of how much Canada was contributing beyond a handful of volunteers and supplies to the war effort.
