Women's suffrage is the right for women to vote in federal, provincial, and municipal elections. Voting is a democratic right that every individual deserves whether male or female. This poster states “ You will wish to hear the Canadian woman suffrage leader Flora McDonald Dennison and Mr. Frank Dunham, Thursday, October 25, 8:00 p.m.” This leads to the question of who Flora McDonald Dennison is. Flora MacDonald Dennison was an entrepreneur and social activist, who made extraordinary advances in her lifetime towards Universal Women’s Suffrage, in addition to women's ability to have political representation in society. Dennison worked as a dressmaker for Hudson's Bay for seven years before starting her brand and making her one of the few women entrepreneurs. Seeing women's inequality and harsh treatment in the workforce, Dennison joined the Dominion Women’s Enfranchisement Association and soon joined forces with other Feminist advocates in Toronto. Way ahead of her time, not only did she preach equality among the sexes, but she also preached for female independence. Dennison will go down in history as a worthy Feminist advocate and fighter for rights.
