The Canadian Gazette is the official newspaper from the Government of Canada, and serves as a public record and allows the communication of regulations and public notices. This issue is from March 18th, 1916 and contains a large amount of information about the war and regulations surrounding it. For example, around six pages are dedicated to publish information about promotions across the military, and there are orders of setting the daily rations of Canadian concentration camps. These camps held immigrants who came from member states of the Central Powers, and according to the Gazette were allotted 1 pound of bread and 3 ozs of sugar per day. Although the issue was published during the middle of the war, the majority of the Gazette is focused on domestic Canadian issues such as post offices established during the year, bank dividend notifications, budget statements, and marine notices. The article showcases that while the war was a pressing topic during this time, the government still had many other domestic issues to focus on.
