Artifact 5: Movement - Privacy Defence Committee Advertisement

This is an advertisement for the Privacy Defence Committee from The Body Politic, a Canadian magazine for the “...contribution to the gay movement and the growth of gay consciousness,” that ran from 1971 to 1987. The Privacy Defence Committee, hand in hand with gay publications like The Body Politic played a large role in spreading the word about the raid on Pisces Health Spa. This advertisement is a prime example of that—not only does it let readers know what happened, but it also calls them to action by asking for help, whether by donating to fund the victims’ legal costs or by taking a more hands-on approach for those living in or near Edmonton.
